The name “De Roopoorte” is steeped in history, evoking the vibrant legacy of Bruges. “Roopoorte” refers to the iconic red gate that once guarded this enchanting city, symbolizing both protection and hospitality.

In the past also called “Amsterdam”. A deep house of three bays and three storeys under a saddle roof with Flemish tiles, with a bell gable under a triangular pediment from the mid-18th century. The storefront was added in 1933 and modified later.

Brick construction with bluestone for the substructure, enlivened with imitation joints, cordons and banding for the gable top. Slightly arched upper windows in a flat frame with a Rococo keystone.
